And so a legend draws to an end
Posted on May 3rd, 2007 14 commentsMy last big translation project, Der Langrisser, now six years in the making, is almost done.
For real this time.
Since we have a week off for May Day, I have been working ten hours per day to pull together the last loose ends. In the next two days, I will finish off the Chaos and Independent Paths (15 scenarios), and then the scripts will be given one final spell check with OpenOffice.org.
If you are interested in participating or following the game’s beta test phase, head to the Der Langrisser Beta Test blog. You can subscribe to the RSS feed for news, and also send in an application to become a beta tester.
Our last hack to the game which has been on hold until now is to hijack the Text Speed options in the game menu and allow users to enable or disable the new window colors we’ve created.
For more details on the project, please read the site.
I hope to see the official release of the translation made in early June. Check for more news around then.

Wow. This is too hard to believe… I’ve been expecting this for 4 years (I think, maybe even more). I hope I’m not too old for the game now! Too bad I’m not cut out to be a beta tester. My native language is not English and I don’t have enough free time. =S
Anyways, I really thank you for finishing this. It might have taken years, but I know your work and it’s awesome. It still would have been worth the wait if it took you 20 years to finish it. I will definitely play this game, going through all paths, maybe even more than once. ^_^ I thank you again, for the great time I will have while playing this, in exchange for all the time you sacrificed for this translation. -

That’s honey to my ears! I’m so excited to have a change to play such an awesome game, a good-ol 16-bit strategy RPG, beats every today’s RPG for sure!

Oh, by the way, in which Der Langrisser version the translation will be, 1.0 or 1.1?
-
Version 1.1.
No one said your native language had to be English. I just asked what it is.

Thank you for this. I came across your site for the first time over a year ago, when I foolishly started looking for a full translation of this game. After a couple days of clicking on links, trying out emulators with horrible grammar, and reading some stuff, I started to realize how bad the situation was. I was just losing hope when I came across your site, and now I’m finally hopefully going to be able to play this great game in proper English.
I think I’m going to beta test for you. It’s the least I can do after all the work and frustration you’ve gone through on this.

U have done GREAT job. First time i saw this game was in 2000. There were 5 translated levels in english. I had searched about month for full translation…. Result was – nothing. Now i have hope ^^. I’ve found your site 3 days ago. And i’ve already dloaded znes. I hope u will make full english derlangrisser rom.
This is awesome game. I really thank U.

Jerky — this is indeed a full translation of the entire game into English. Keep in mind that you will need the Japanese version 1.1 rom withOUT a Header in order to use this patch — at least, until and unless D comes out with a Ninja-format patch for it, in which case it won’t matter which you have ^_^

From the looks of the beta blog it seems a lot of progress is being made. I bet you’ll be glad when this legendary project is finally complete! I know I will
Thanks again for all the hard work! For myself and many others this has been one of the most anticipated projects over the last few years. -
