T2D Progress Update

As many of you may know, it’s still down, though I am working on it. Here was what was accomplished tonight:

  • Wrote preliminary Coppermine integration. Support for full images, thumbnails and albums. Coppermine front end is no longer needed except for additions. Need to finish formatting and CSS.
  • Began work on relative links page to link together codes, screenshots, reviews, and features that mention a game. Trying to find a way to speed up the queries because they’re very messy.
  • Started converting old reviews to use the new Coppermine integration, still a long ways to go though. Need to get Coppermine integration to alternate thumbnails between left and right alignment. This shouldn’t be hard.

Now for what’s left — because there’s a long way to go.

  • Write a new custom component for maintaining a codes/tricks database.
  • Expand profiles to let people keep Top 10 lists of their favourite games and add a search feature to find members who like the same games.
  • Complete redesign of the web pages to use as few tables and as much CSS as possible. Phase out as much of the Mambo front-end as possible.

So as I’m sure you can guess from that last one alone, don’t hold your breath. It’s going to be a while. Suggestions for things to add are welcome. I was considering doing a game database, but it’s just far too much work to keep straight, and if you want a good game database (of non-Asia games anyway, nobody seems to index Chinese/Korean stuff…) just go to VGRebirth.
