The inserter is sort of done
Well, the inserter is finally kind of sort of finished … sort of.
The last glitch I found was not including the %B tag. Nobody knows what it does anyway, but it was needed to make a perfect copy of the script. Given the extracted script and reinserted script were 1-to-1 matched, you may think hell is over.
WRONG!
I discovered a glitch last night inserting the translated text for when you give up the Solar Sword to the little monster in the first cave. If you talk to him after the main dialogue ends, the game crashes with a message window popping up. Jacky says there may be a system of pointers we never found before that point directly to certain dialogue events. Grrrrreat! He has my source code though, and says he’s working to add that in. That would be nice, since I’m beyond swamped with work and school.
I’ll talk to him again tonight. Maybe. If I can stay awake. I’m pretty beat because we’re on literally opposite sides of the planet right now, and working with him usually entails me being awake until 4 – 6 a.m. local time. Not too cool with class at 10 a.m. and work until 5 or 6 p.m.
Here’s a couple pictures so you can check out how the inserter works aside from that one crashing event. The game is running with my “Swordsman and Fairy” font on English Windows XP. The font is adapted from the Uncial font used in the start of Genghis Khan II on SNES. Please note the date of this update. If these links are broken in two months, don’t complain to me. Because I hate you, and yes, you personally, I will not fix them.
