I have owned “D” since last July on all FreeNode servers. A week ago I began being unable to IDENTIFY with NickServ.

Now I know why.

This FreeNode staff member, Denny de la Haye, operator of btsuck.org, wanted my nick, so it was stolen from me.

Well, I most certainly will not be that immature. I dare say, this was one of the most childish stunts I’ve ever seen.

I’m not stalking him, so I won’t bother to tell you that he was almost killed when he was hit by a car in the summer of 2003, that his domain’s WHOIS entry says he lives at 41 Squires Close, Coffee Hall, Milton Keynes, MK6 5HF, United Kingdom (GB), or that his CV says his phone numbers are +44-7970 326896 and +44-7815 150811.

The e-mail addresses those two pages list are definitely not denny@concretecow.com, denny@btsuck.org or denny.delahaye@entora.co.uk.

You didn’t use the nick for over 60 days according to NickServ, so I took it - I assumed you’d left the network. Our rules allow us to give a nick to a new owner (anyone who asks, not just a staff member) after 60 days of inactivity. However, if you’re still active, just contact me on IRC and let me know, I’ll be happy to give it back… I’m really not a bad person.

By the way, I don’t register my domains to my personal address - I run several review and protest sites and so they’re all registered through a friend’s address. Call it a precaution against immature stalkers The second phone number is mine though, and is public information - feel free to leave it up. Or you could have called it and asked why I’d ’stolen’ your nick - that would have resolved the problem pretty quickly.
