More Langrisser progress

I translated a lot of Langrisser I PC’s text translated today. The project is still plagued by text clipping bugs that nobody wants to look at.
I updated my tools package to v0.6. The dumper and re-builder now support dumping with symbols and converting ASCII to the game’s table structure.
This has rendered langpcdump useless for dumping non-script resource files. Please use langpcresdump for this from now on.
Something for those as twisted as myself

Sorry, still no real progress on anything. I’ve been putting in too much time on my arcade cabinet to get anything new together for the web site.
Langrisser I PC accepts bitmap font files, so I’m going to design a fixed-width font for the game since we can’t do variable width. Don’t worry, as usual it will kick ass just like everything I do (example: Heroine Anthem’s fixed-width).
Today I stumbled on a wonderful CD–Knights of Xentar. Yes, the CD version of the first soft-core porn game to ever hit regular retail shelves in the USA.
I just couldn’t resist the opportunity so I churned out a dumper for the CD edition’s volume files (.vol). It should work with the floppy version too.
There are two types of files, GPC (the graphic) and VOC (Creative Sound Format). The VOC files store all the voice clips used in the game, some of which were kind of funny

Another day, another dumper

I released an early version of my Langrisser I PC edition tools. Currently, it includes two scripts to disassemble a Langrisser I PC resource to a folder and another to build a new resource file from that folder’s contents.
The source may be useful to anyone looking to write a similar script. I got the game a few days ago, so I’ve been playing around with it and trying to talk byuu into fixing some of the mono-spaced font issues.
I haven’t been at the computer much lately because I’d been working on an arcade cabinet in my garage. It’s going so-so but yesterday I encountered a nightmare trying to put crackle on the sides of the cabinet …
I think I’m just going to leave the sides red, since that’s how Neo-Geo MVS systems look and that’s what I’m modelling it after. I really need to get moving on designing the marquee, border, and control panel under-lay though–I want to finish this project up by Sunday.
