Fun with Windows Media Player

If you’re like me, you like having all your MP3s organized by the CDs they’re a part of, not in a huge list. Unfortunately WinAmp, Deliplayer, Foobar, etc are not very friendly about this.

I worked out a good trick to pull it off in Windows Media Player. WMP can import M3U play lists from WinAmp. If you use WinAmp to generate a play list for each CD, you can then import these files into Windows Media Player. The result will be the CD name with a (+) sign next to it, clicking it will drop down all your tracks. Very cool.

Of course, then you can make lists of your CDs like this and save those further into Genre lists of CDs. The end result is a very manageable WMP. This will probably be my primary media player from now on.
