I just had the urge to share some music actually worth listening to.
- Game Over - a Swedish speed metal band who composes metal arrangements of 8-bit NES music complete with lyrics; in many cases (Punch-out) their lyrics are better than the game’s official storyline.
- Press Play On Tape - a Danish roch band which plays exclusively rock versions of Commodore 64 tunes.
- The Minibosses - everyone knows these guys by now; they still seem to be playing after years, but I don’t know if they have any new music beyond the released LP.
That’s all.
I got a grip full of Confucius

Today is Christmas in Beijing. That makes me unhappy.
Everywhere I go in town there are big stupid looking Santas and flashy lights mixed together with red lanterns heralding a Chinese festival. While I understand, in China, Christmas is little more than a commercial holiday akin to Valentine’s Day, seeing imagery traditionally associated with Western religion displayed so prominently throughout the city bugs me a lot.
A great tortilla chip substitute

If you’re a chips and salsa nut living in China like me, and who is as broke-ass as I am, one of the things you may miss from home is chips and salsa.
Salsa is easy to make and cheap. There are thousands of recipes online that will make you around 10 cups of salsa with local ingredients that cost US$1.00. However, chips remain elusive. Foreign import stores have them, but at a budget slaughtering 30元 per bag.
Enter my idea:
Chinese support for Console

Humongous thanks go out to Sourceforge user bozho for posting this fix. I’ve been wanting to use the Console project for years as a CMD.EXE frontend, but was never able to because of its problems with CJK support.
The problem seems to be that Console 2 breaks its spacing if you use raster fonts instead of True Type Fonts in your CMD.EXE settings.
Changing the win32 native BASH prompt

If you like using BASH on Windows but don’t want to use the Cygwin port, you may have run across some of the native BASH ports available.
Trouble is, BASH on Windows does not read your host name, and many of the native ports ignore your BASH configuration files.
If you just want to create a new static prompt instead of the default “bash$”, it’s very easy to do using a hex editor. The hack below was done on a Bash version 1.14.7(53) native port dated 2005/7/9. I don’t recall where I found it anymore.

I fixed up a glitch in the level submissions that was causing stages using the blue color barrier blocks to break. I also submitted another two stages, and these ones are actually a bit more challenging. Still nothing compared to the psycho levels one can find at Domino’s page.
Hope to see some player submissions one day.
