  • Catching up with the repo

Posted on January 20th, 2008 Derrick Sobodash No comments

Today I made a load of updates to the repository. First off, the preferred install method has been updated to use the now-preferred /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ folder for adding repositories. New users no longer need to modify their main source list.

Secondly, I caught up on mednafen builds. It turns out an update snuck out during all my computer trouble, so the repository is now back in sync. As is custom for my repository, the build is extensively profiled: every system and every cartridge format — because we all know how much 310 milliseconds matters when opening a zip file.

Lastly, I updated huc and tilemolester because of some weird backend changes. Apparently tilemolester was broken for a while because Ubuntu destroyed its old /usr/bin/java symlink. Lame, but I worked around it.

  • quasi88 package fixed for OSS

The OSS adventure in the last post did yield one useful tidbit: my package for quasi88 was broken for OSS users.

Its dependencies have been corrected and a new version is up on the repository. My apologies for anyone this caused problems for.

  • Updates to the repo

The repository has been updated with mednafen 0.86 and bsnes 0.27, both profiled and compiled with i686 optimizations to suit the default Gutsy kernel.

Sorry I was late by 12 hours. How many people complained and put out their own packages this time? :(

  • One repo to rule them all

The repository hasn’t let up. I’m continuing to add new packages all the time.

This round of updates fixes several broken packages and adds a bunch of new ones for audio fans.

  • Pirate repository open

CinnamonPirate.com now has its own Ubuntu repository at http://repository.cinnamonpirate.com/. Packages are currently being built and released for Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy.

The repository is notable for hosting the only Debian packages of several obscure Japanese PC emulators which took considerable work to compile. It also hosts a heavily optimized version of the latest mednafen, bsnes, virtualjaguar, yabause, dosbox and a variety of ROM hacking tools compiled for — and in a few cases ported to — Linux.
