Eudora Extractor
THIS SCRIPT will process a Eudora mailbox to a directory of plain text files suitable for importing into KMail or other e-Mail software.
While Eudora is nice and stores all its e-Mails in a standard single unix file suitbale for importing into pine or Netscape, KMail lacks a friendly importer for such files (as of version 1.5). It, and most other email clients, do support importing a folder full of plain text email files.
I wrote this because I was a Eudora user for three years prior to switching to KMail. I couldn’t afford to lose all all those years of e-mail and needed a way to get it into my current client. I’m sure someone else has written software to do this too, but at the time, I didn’t find it.
Syntax: eudoraex [file_to_convert] [folder_to_create]
After running the script, open KMail and select Tools->Import and pick Import Plain Text Emails from the drop-down menu. Browse for the folder you just created.
