Credited Works
- Beggar Prince - I was hired to do the programming for this game by Brandon Cobb of SuperFighterTeam. When I say hired, I mean they actually paid me money.
- Magna Carta - I did all the original programming for this project and created the English menu graphics. The awesome black and white element icons were designed with the help of TeknoZX, a Korean guy who bought me the game.
- Tekkaman Blade (GB) - I translated the script by hand then asked Strag0 if he wanted another project. He said sure, so I typed it up and gave it to him. A few weeks later he released this patch.
- Final Fantasy (WSC) - This project was started by Strag0 and I. Then Zalas, Neil_, and byuu joined in. Then it died. Then I gave the scripts to RPGOne when I saw the progress they made on Final Fantasy II. My work in the game is the translation of the complete script, sans 40 percent of the dialogue done by Tomato.
- Live A Live (SNES) - This project was managed by Gideon Zhi. He asked me when I was hopped up on 6 litres of really cheap Red Cola and my eyes were rolling too hard to refuse. I translated a huge chunk of the item and technique list as well as all of the final scenario of the game. Having never played it, I’m still wondering to this day what the hell an “Odio” is.
- Nettou King of Fighters ‘96 (GB) - I have no idea what I did in this translation anymore, but I’m credited in it, so it must have been something.
Uncredited Works
- Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (PCE-CD) - Spot translations, retranslating some lines to clarify things for Nightwolve during editing, etc. I also did some font conversion work.
- Ys I&II Complete (PC) - Same as below, but only on the Ys II side of things.
- Xak III - The Eternal Recurrence (PCE-CD) - I did a handful of spot translations for Nightwolve, as well as some proof-reading and editing.
Terminated Projects
- Fuurai no Shiren: Monster of the Moonlit Village (PC) - I found the game, byuu cracked it, and I went to work on it. The game’s text was much too difficult for me to really render in English through. Many characters spoke in hayseed and drunkard style, and with how it was carried into text, sometimes I couldn’t even figure out the root word. Everyone I knew had a hard time with it too, so it just got canned.
- With You ~Mitsumeteitai~ (PC) - I played the game, liked it, went back to translate it, and realized I couldn’t stand to play it again. Given it’s a visual novel, it had absolutely no replay value, and thus nothing to motivate me to read it again let alone translate it. I translated all of Day 1 before I dropped it like a rock.
- Sentimental Graffiti 2 (DC) - I fell in love with this game as soon as I bought it. When I worked on it, it was definitely my peak of translation skill as far as Japanese is concerned. Unfortunately, after dumping the GD-ROMS myself and translating over 800KB of the script, my hard disk was making clunking noises. I decided to move all data to my other disk for safekeeping. During this process, my IDE chain failed and Windows lost every single file that was being moved. No recovery software worked, and I cried a lot. Losing that much was just too much for me. Even though I still love the game I won’t work on it again thanks to fear.
- Hanagumi Taisen Columns 2 (DC) - The first Dreamcast translation ever. I had the entire game done, but there was a RAM allocation error every so many text boxes due to expanded file sizes. Nobody knew how to find or hack the memory allocation size, so since the game was unplayable, it couldn’t be released.
- Gulliver Boy (SNES) - F.H. did the assembler work for me in early 1998 when I was attempting to work on this game. Unfortunately the project didn’t take off and I really wasted his time…
- Ranma 1/2: Akanekodan Teki Hihou (SNES) - A late 1997 project. Knight4J helped me with the font stuff and Lando from the old EICN #emu gave me his old paper script for the game to use in the translation. Again, it met with disaster because I really didn’t know anything about script dumping back then. Every line was manually inserted. I finished everything up till the bath house before just burning out. Never released.
- Lunar: Strolling School (GG) - I briefly worked on this game with RydiaX from EICN #emu when we were both first studying Japanese. We only did up through the end of Chapter 1. It was probably inaccurate as all hell. Very dead project.
- Final Fantasy V - My first project. SoM2Freak helped me get started in late 1996. I used my old Dragonfire space to put up a page and soon met Dave Pavlisak, Ben Roth and David Timko who I started RPGe with. Our work was buggy as hell. SoM2Freak and Barubary eventually took over the project, and by the time all of us had dumped RPGe, so we never made it to the readme.
Group Affiliations
- Final Fantasy V: The Lost Translation - The original Final Fantasy V translation team. We used to meet in #ff5e on EsperNet while we worked on the game.
- RPGe - The name was suggested by someone in EICN #emu. Everyone in #ff5e liked it, so as of some time in July 1997, we were RPGe.
- And that was the last time I ever worked with a group.
